Following the huge success of its second edition in 2016, which registered the participation of more than 200 delegates from 40 different countries worldwide, SUM 2018 – 4th Symposium on Urban Mining and Circular Economy will be held Bergamo’s upper city, from 21st to 23rd May 2018. SUM 2018 will focus on the concept of Urban Mining and Circular Economy and the need to look beyond separate collection and the current logic of consumers responsibility, resulting in an increased recovery of resources, better quality of the same, improved environmental protection, involvement of producer responsibility and lower costs for society.

Milan, on the 24th and 25th May 2018, will gather major representatives of the European plastics converting industry, to witness the commitment of the sector to the pillars identified by the European Strategy for Plastics in a Circular Economy. The Tire will include a series of seminars, to take place in the Retreading and Recycling Hall at Köln Messe. For the first time the organisers of a major tyre show have dedicated time to promoting tyre recycling.

The organisers hope to attract a number of equipment manufacturers and Tyre and Rubber Recycling magazine will be operating a series of eight seminars covering a wide range of topics concerning the tyre recycling industry. Planned speakers will include representatives of the tyre industry alongside experts from the recycling field and topics will range from the current state of the market, through technologies and developments to the environmental impact of end of life tyres on the environment.

This event at The Tire will give recyclers the opportunity to meet representatives from the major tyre manufacturers at the show. Tyre manufacturers will have buyers and technicians present and available to speak to recyclers, or to make introductions to the right people to contact. For tyre recyclers is destined to become a key point of contact for meeting fellow recyclers, suppliers and, of course the tyre manufacturers from around the world.

Ist das die Gelegenheit zu einem Technologiesprung? Antworten darauf will die Fachtagung Waste and Recycling Strategy 2018 am 19. Juni in Hannover finden.

Welche technisch und wirtschaftlich realistischen Handlungsoptionen für den Ausbau der Kreislaufwirtschaft im Sinne einer höherwertigen Verwertung stehen aktuell zur Verfügung? Diese Frage ist sowohl für die klassischen Sortieranlagen wichtig wie auch für den alternden Bestand an MBAs in Deutschland. Die EU-Abfallrahmenrichtline fordert eine möglichst hochwertige Verwertung von Abfällen. Die Outputströme der MBAs enden jedoch überwiegend in der Verbrennung (energetische Verwertung) oder auf der Deponie. Heute ist aber mehr möglich. Neue Aggregate, die in alten Konzepten eingebettet sind, bleiben aber bei Produktqualität, Recyclingquote und damit auch in Wirtschaftlichkeit deutlich hinter dem Möglichen zurück.

Als weitere Herausforderung für die Recyclingwirtschaft sind Veränderungen der Abfallzusammensetzung zu betrachten. Wie wird die künftige Abfallzusammensetzung aussehen? Ein ganz besonderer Umbruch könnte sich für das Metallrecycling ergeben, wenn z.B. im Zuge der Elektromobilität und leichterer Karossen wesentliche Teile der künftigen Automobile statt aus Metall aus Verbundwerkstoffen gefertigt werden sollten. Auf den nachhaltigen Umgang mit Elektronikschrott wird die Fachtagung Mit einem Bericht aus einem aktuellen Projekt des UBA eingehen.

Die Gülle- und Gärrestaufbereitung ist eine immer interessanter werdende Alternative zur direkten Ausbringung der unbehandelten Substrate auf die Nutzfläche. Gründe hierfür sind vor allem die steigende Problematik der Nährstoffakkumulation in bestimmten Regionen Europas. Eine Vorbehandlung der Gärreste und der Gülle kann diese Problematik entschärfen, indem die Nährstoffe aufkonzentriert werden. Dies eröffnet einige Vorteile  – es kommt zu Verbesserungen sowohl bei der Lagerung, der Ausbringung als auch bei der Weitervermarktung.

Bei der Aufbereitung ist die anaerobe Vergärung mit anschließender Biogaserzeugung immer der erste Schritt, um ein stabiles Substrat zu erreichen, welches dann weiterbehandelt werden kann.

An diesem Thema wird mittlerweile international auf wissenschaftlicher Ebene gearbeitet. Unterschiedliche Technologien und Verfahren zur Voll- und Teilaufbereitung wurden weiterentwickelt und zur Marktreife gebracht. Schwerpunkte des Einsatzes sind Zentren mit intensiver Tierhaltung, auf denen gleichzeitig eine große Anzahl von Biogasanlagen anzutreffen sind.

Die Konferenz zielt darauf ab, Praktiker, Politiker, Entscheidungsträger, Betreiber, Forscher, Wissenschaftler, Umweltschutzorganisationen, Hersteller und Dienstleister im Biogasbereich, Studenten, Vertreter von Interessenverbänden (NGOs) sowie alle anderen, die Interesse an der Aufbereitung und Nutzung von Gülle- und Gärprodukten haben, anzusprechen.

Das vielfältige Angebot umfasst Ballenpressen, Brecher, Shredder, Sortieranlagen, Förderbänder, Sieb- und Separiermaschinen. Die Fachmesse erwartet in 2018 mehr als 500 Aussteller. Mit dabei sind Firmen wie Erdwich, Haas, HSM, Huning, Lindner-Recyclingtech, RMS, Steinert und Untha.

„Wir waren 2017 das erste Mal auf der Recycling-Technik Dortmund vertreten, und es war die absolut richtige Entscheidung“, betont Manfred Eßmann, Vertriebsleiter der Lindner-Recyclingtech. „Die Fachbesucher kamen mit konkreten Anfragen zu uns, bei rund 50 hochwertigen Kontakten rechnen wir mit guten Aufträgen.“ Zudem bieten hochkarätige Vorträge auf den Bühnen der Innovation-Center, die von namhaften Partnern wie dem vero e.V., Fraunhofer IML, IAB Weimar gGmbH and WFZruhr organisiert werden, den Zuhörern an zwei Tagen Neues und Wissenswertes aus Praxis und Forschung.

Wichtige Geschäfts- und Innovationsplattform

Mit der „Matchmaking Recycling Technology“ wird es auch in diesem Jahr eine internationale Kooperationsbörse geben. Enterprise Europe Network, Zenit GmbH und WFZruhr bieten die Gelegenheit, konkret und gezielt Kontakte mit möglichen Kooperationspartnern aus dem In- und Ausland herzustellen und Gespräche zu führen.

Darüber hinaus findet parallel zur Recycling-Technik Dortmund 2018 erneut der 8. Urban Mining Kongress „Design for Urban Mining“ statt. Wertvolle Rohstoffe lagern in und unter unseren Städten. Seitdem die weltweiten Ressourcen knapper werden, gewinnt Urban Mining mehr und mehr an Bedeutung. Auf dem Urban Mining Kongress kommen Experten und Besucher zu einem europaweiten Branchentreff zusammen.

Schauexplosionen im Rahmen der Fachmesse

Ebenfalls warten auf die Besucher spannende Schauexplosionen auf dem Freigelände, mit denen die Firma Rembe GmbH und der IND Ex e.V. im Rahmen des vierten Deutschen Brand- und Explosionsschutzkongress auf die Wichtigkeit der Schutzmaßnahmen hinweisen werden.
